Getting Started

1) What is Yetunde?

Yetunde is a dating app for Yoruba singles and the Yoruba diaspora. You create a profile, swipe to show interest, match when interest is mutual, and chat with text, photos, and voice notes. Available on Android and iOS, worldwide.

2) Create an account & verify your age/ID

Summary:
You must be 18+ and complete ID + liveness verification before using the app. This keeps the community safe. 

Steps

  1. Download Yetunde on Android or iOS, open the app. 

  2. Sign up with your email and follow the on-screen prompts. 

  3. Prepare a government ID (Passport incl. permits, Driving Licence, or NIN for Nigerians). Ensure the name and DOB match your registration. 

  4. Complete the selfie/liveness check in good lighting; remove hats/glasses. 

  5. Submit and wait for a confirmation screen.

If it didn’t work

  • Update your device OS and app to the latest version, try again with brighter lighting. If still stuck, contact support with your Yetunde account email and device model. 

Privacy note: We process ID data for verification/security and minimize retention; images uploaded for verification aren’t stored. See Privacy Policy.

3) How swipes, matches, and chats work

Summary:
Swipe to show interest. When both people like each other, you’re matched and a private chat opens. You can send text, photos, and voice notes—always follow community guidelines. 

Flow

  1. Discover: Browse profiles and swipe right on people you like. 

  2. Connect: A match happens when interest is mutual. 

  3. Engage: Chat privately via text, photos, and voice messages. 

Tips if you’re not matching

  • Refresh photos, complete your bio, try a Booster, widen distance/age preferences, and check what your plan tier offers.

4) Messaging basics: text, photos, voice notes

Summary:
After matching, chat opens. You can send text, photos, and voice notes. Keep content respectful and safe. 

Steps

  1. Open Matches, tap a profile to enter chat.

  2. Type a message or tap the photo/voice icons to send media. 

  3. If someone is abusive or suspicious, Report or Block from the profile or chat menu. 

If you can’t message

  • You can only message after a match. If a match disappears, they may have unmatched or been removed for policy reasons. See “Why I can’t message”.

5) Plans overview: Ayanfe, Ide, Fadaka, Wura

Summary:
Yetunde offers plan tiers (Ayanfe, Ide, Fadaka, Wura). Higher tiers unlock more features and response quotas. Add-ons like Booster24/Booster48 temporarily increase profile visibility. 

What you should know

  • Tiers: More features and higher daily response limits as you go up tiers.

  • Quotas: If you hit a limit, you’ll see an in-app notice—upgrade or wait for daily reset. 

  • Boosters: Raise your visibility for 24 or 48 hours.

6) Buy a plan or booster (Apple IAP & Paystack)

Summary:
On iOS, pay via Apple in-app purchase. On Android, pay via Paystack. If you paid and don’t have access, send your receipt details to support. 

Steps (iOS)

  1. In the app, open Profile → Upgrade.

  2. Choose a plan or Booster24/Booster48 and confirm via Apple IAP. 

Steps (Android)

  1. In the app, open Profile → Upgrade.

  2. Choose your product; complete checkout with Paystack

If access didn’t activate

  • Contact support with:

    • Apple: receipt/order ID.

    • Paystack: transaction reference. 

Refunds: Not offered at the moment. (Local store rules may still apply where relevant.)

7) Payment failed—how to fix

Summary:
Most failures are caused by bank declines, 3-D Secure/OTP issues, or store region settings. Try the checks below, then contact support with your receipt/reference. 

Quick checks

  1. Confirm card is enabled for online/international payments.

  2. Complete any bank OTP/3-D Secure flow.

  3. On iOS, verify Apple ID region and payment method.

  4. On Android (Paystack), confirm your bank allows the transaction and that you entered the correct details.

  5. Retry on Wi-Fi and update the app.

Escalate with evidence

  • Share your Apple order ID or Paystack reference so support can investigate faster.

8) Report or block a user

Summary:
Use in-app Report or Block from the chat or profile menu. Reports are confidential and reviewed by Trust & Safety. 

Steps

  1. Open the conversation or profile.

  2. Tap More (…) → Report (choose a reason) or Block

  3. For urgent safety concerns, also contact support via in-app Help or WhatsApp.

What happens next

  • The team reviews for guideline violations. Actions may include warnings, feature limits, or account removal. Reports are not shared with the other user. (yetunde.app)

9) Delete or pause your account

Summary:
You can pause or delete your account from Settings. If you delete, you’ll lose access to matches and messages. (Data retention practices are governed by our Privacy Policy.) (yetunde.app)

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Account.

  2. Choose Pause (temporary) or Delete (permanent).

  3. Follow the on-screen confirmations.

10) Contact support

Summary:
Use in-app support first. You can also reach us via WhatsApp or email. Response target: 2h (critical payments/verification), 8h (high), 24h (general). Weekends/holidays may vary.
